Every project I take on has the option of a custom CMS (content management system). A CMS uses a database to hold the content of your site, meaning that you have the power to change it at any time. No more calling your webmaster at the crack of dawn with an urgent web update!
You have a few options for your CMS. I have the most experience implementing Wordpress – a popular blogging software – which can be customized to allow easy management all text and images on your site. There are also thousands of Wordpress plugins which allows you to extend Wordpress to do just about anything.
If you prefer to use Joomla or Drupal, that is fine too. I have used both in the past. Finally, if you have an appropriate need for it, I can create a custom CMS designed specifically for your site.
This is for those of you who have been reading about content management and how great it is, but you already paid for a site without it. Well, thanks to the flexibility of Wordpress themes, it is easier than ever to seamlessly migrate static websites to a CMS.
Depending on the scale of the project, migration can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Usually it can be done relatively inexpensively. In fact, you may just save money in the end by not having to pay your webmaster to post updates!
